See we attach ourselves to ‘commitments’ to the point that we lose our sleep over it, compromise our health, happiness and time with loved ones. Even if these commitments turn out to be sucking everything out of us, for which we started in the first place.

We are taught, once we make a commitment we must honor it no matter what. I now beg to differ and have a rider that I apply.

*** If the commitment is serving on party, and emptying the other party, it is unequal, unfair and unworthy of being honored. If one party is losing time, health, happiness, space, voice because of the commitment while the other party is rising and shining or even getting unequal benefits, even if they fail to use it to rise and shine, the commitment needs to be revisited. ***

Stop staying in a commitment that is serving one and sucking the blood like a leach from the other. You have freaking every right to change your mind.

You see these plants, how they have grown within a year from a couple of leaves to beautiful bundle of hope? I once gave them each a name (Anyone else name their plants? I do!) And they represented support, kindness, understanding, compassion and hope. But the person after who, I had named them, turned out to be entirely different and opposite. Something else on the outside (and much revered for their façade!) and entirely different and rather mean-spirted person on the inside (and they left no room for doubt about it!)

Hence, these plants, to whom I committed a certain name, also had to be rechristened. Because these plants have been loyal to me, kind and constantly giving me a reason to hope, shine and carry on with confidence. I don’t even need to mention the name they had, because the person is not deserving. The new name however is -

Greta and Malala

the two young women who deserve all the gratitude for being the voice of reason, courage and conviction. These plants have shown to be them in character and these plants are going to be known for it in my life. Especially because these plants have the ability to keep multiplying, mutating, spreading themselves far and wide, just like the work of Greta and Malala, so aptly named!
